Die KZM-Fortbildungsreihe ist eine regelmässig stattfindende Weiterbildungsplattform der Kinderzahnmedizin und richtet sich an Zahnärztinnen und Zahnärzte, die ihr Wissen in diesem Fachgebiet praxisnah und evidenzbasiert vertiefen möchten. In jährlich drei bis vier Veranstaltungen werden zentrale Themen der modernen Kinderzahnmedizin aufgegriffen und aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven beleuchtet.
Die Fortbildungsreihe kombiniert aktuelle wissenschaftliche Erkenntnisse mit klinischer Erfahrung und legt besonderen Wert auf den Transfer in den Praxisalltag. Die Vorträge werden von nationalen und internationalen Referentinnen und Referenten gestaltet, die ausgewiesene Expertise in ihren jeweiligen Schwerpunktgebieten mitbringen.
Neben strukturierten Fachvorträgen bieten die Veranstaltungen Raum für Diskussion, kritischen Austausch und fallbasierte Entscheidungsfindung. Ziel ist es, diagnostische und therapeutische Konzepte zu reflektieren, unterschiedliche Behandlungsansätze zu vergleichen und die eigene klinische Entscheidungsfindung nachhaltig zu stärken.

Topic: Making decisions following traumatic dental injuries in children
Traumatic dental injuries in primary and permanent dentition can be complex to manage in both the emergency visit and subsequently on review visits. Correct diagnosis of the injury is an essential, but not the only, factor in how to individualise your therapeutic approach for the injured child. This presentation will highlight and prioritise the various elements that will assist you in deciding the most appropriate management for your case. A lively interaction is anticipated especially when real-life cases are presented to stimulate discussion.Speaker: Prof. Anne O'Connell
Anne O'Connell is the Professor /Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry and head of the PG programme in Trinity College Dublin and Childrens Heath Ireland at Tallaght since 2000. She obtained her Dental Degree from Trinity College Dublin and worked in NHS England before embarking on specialty training in Paediatric Dentistry in Eastman Dental Centre, New York. She remained in USA for many years as faculty and researcher. Anne is also a trained cariologist with a strong publication record in both basic science and clinical dentistry, including trauma, caries, and advanced aesthetic restorative care for children with zirconia. She has extensive experience in education in USA and Ireland as well as internationally. Anne has numerous Fellowships and is Board Certification in Paediatric Dentistry. Anne is the Past President of the International Association of Dental Traumatology and continues to be active in numerous national and international dental and scientific committees/organisations, including IADT, IADR, IAPD, ISDC, EAPD and AAPD. She remains an active clinician and loves interact with international colleagues who share her passion for appropriate management of children with oral health issues.Die Teilnehmenden können ihre Trauma-Fälle auf einem USB-Stick zur Diskussion in der Runde mitbringen.
